Supreme Court reporter Robert Barnes is taking readers’ questions on the courts, its process and the upcoming same-sex marriage case this Monday, April 27 at 1 p.m. Eastern.

To participate, like The Washington Post on Facebook and tune in at 1 p.m. Eastern for the start of our one-hour chat with Barnes in advance of the Supreme Court hearing on Tuesday when the court will hear Obergefell v. Hodges. Comment on our post with your question, and Barnes will explain how the justices work and what exactly they’re deciding in the cases that they’re hearing Tuesday.

Obergefell v. Hodges primarily concerns two questions: “May states limit marriage to its traditional definition as only between a man and a woman? And must states recognize same-sex marriages performed where it is legal?”

Robert Barnes joined The Washington Post in 1987. His career at The Post spans work on Maryland politics and metropolitan news. Since 2006, he has reported on the Supreme Court, including covering landmark decisions on reproductive rights and same-sex marriage.
