Romney Slams California Gay Marriage Ruling

"Mitt Romney ripped the Ninth Circuit Appeals Court on Tuesday for striking down a California initiative that banned gay marriage in the state after a brief period in which it was legal.

“Today, unelected judges cast aside the will of the people of California who voted to protect traditional marriage," Romney said. "This decision does not end this fight, and I expect it to go to the Supreme Court. That prospect underscores the vital importance of this election and the movement to preserve our values. I believe marriage is between a man and a woman and, as president, I will protect traditional marriage and appoint judges who interpret the Constitution as it is written and not according to their own politics and prejudices.”

While opposing gay marriage and condemning judges is a no-brainer in the GOP primary, Romney still faces pressure from his right flank on the issue. Rival Newt Gingrich has gone even farther by pledging to abolish the Ninth Circuit entirely. "

Romney seems to have a problem understanding how the U.S. Constitution works, not to mention the purpose of the Constitution. He seems to be campaigning for the votes of all ignorant bigots like himself. Remember when he ran against Kennedy for Senate in Mass in 1994, he promised he was more friendly to gay issues than Kennedy? How soon he forgets that!

If any LGBT person votes for this Republican for President, anywhere, anytime, one has to wonder about their sanity, and certainly they have no rational thought process going on in their head.

This is only the second time in so many days that Romney has alienated a large voting block in all 50 states. The first was his announcement that he supported denial of funding to Planned Parenthood, not only Susan G Komen Foundation's now reversed position on the denial of funding, but Romney wants no federal dollars at all going to PP, a position even most conservative women in the USA would not agree with. At this rate, by the time the election draws around in November, only extreme fundamentalist Mormons will vote for him.

If NOM, AFA and the rest of the haters choose not to appeal today's ruling, Marriage Equality becomes the law in California.
If they appeal to SCOTUS and lose again, then Marriage Equality becomes the law of the land.

It's a huge gamble for them. And one, based on today's opinion, that they would likely lose.

I promise to impose the death penalty for serial adultery.
I will abolish the Republican Party and the Southern Baptist Convention.
I will raze the Mormon temple to the ground, and exile all current or former members of NOM to Saudi Arabia.

I approved this message.

Did "traditional marriage" stop once gay people started getting married?

BTW, a couple of my best friends got married this summer in Massachusetts. Beautiful, happy, fun couple totally in love. (Did I mention they are both female?). Just found out last week that "they" are preggers. I'm absolutely thrilled for them...but it's too bad their loving relationship will bring down centuries of traditional marriage.

They are boxing up the equipment to put on the next boat to China. The accountants are figuring out how much the Brass will pocket. The engineers are figuring new ways to eliminate jobs, and the employees are staring at their Pink Slips, and wondering what to do. The Politicians are celebrating the fact that the media has been able to divert the attention of the gullible electorate to squabbling over social issues.
