Gay pride t-shirt may have led to the stabbing of San Diego man

A potential hate crime sent one man to the hospital with a stab wound on Labor Day

UPDATE: San Diego Gay and Lesbian News talked to Lt. Brent Williams of the San Diego Police Department who said he can confirm that the victim was wearing a white t-shirt with the word "Pride" on it with various colors. He was unable to provide us with the name of the victim at this time.

In what police are investigating as a possible hate crime, one man was beaten in the neighborhood of Oak Park on Labor Day.
The 40-year-old unidentified man was wearing a gay pride t-shirt and that may have been the catalyst for the attack.

It happened on Monday, at about 8:45 pm ...
The man wearing the Pride shirt was walking alongside the road when a vehicle carrying several men passed by the victim yelling insults.
... the suspects turned the car around and pulled up near the victim, jumped out and began physically assaulting him while still yelling hate speech.

After being stabbed in his left forearm, he was able to escape, calling his parents for help.
Sgt. Tansey says paramedics arrived at the scene and took the victim to the hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries
... no description of the suspects have been released at this time.
