I used to spend hours listening to Whitney back in the day

She became hot just as I was old enough to go to clubs and parties. Her voice, that unmistakable angelic voice, was such a delight to dance to. Oh, there was Madonna, and Cindy, and others, but Whitney was the voice. Fame and money are so seductive as are the drugs that often come with them. She will be sorely missed.

So what were your favorite Whitney songs? For me, I Wanna Dance with Somebody, Greatest Love of All, All at Once, and of course I will Always Love You.

Even back in my deepest, darkest NWOBHM (Priest/Maiden/Scorpions) days, I'd stop and listen every time her "I Wanna Dance With Sombody" video came on MTV (which was about every fifteen minutes...lol).

Beautiful, man.

just a happy, upbeat song early in her career and her voice was very very strong even though the song itself was pure bubble gum.

Separately, I just wanted to make an observation about her and the rumors of her bi/lesbian nature:

First off, you all know I'm not a troll, here to stir the pot.

So: 1) when you watch her early videos, she has a way of moving in a butch way, reminding me a little of Joan Jett - I can point out snippets later (and also in her films); 2) she did an interview (either with Oprah or Barbara Walters) in which she alluded to using the drugs to dull the pain from living under this pressure to be perfect, when all she wanted to do was to be a 20-year-old kid again; and 3) Bobby Brown apparently wrote in an autobiography that the marriage was initiated for purposes of providing a cover of normalcy to her, to help her career.

Can any bi or lesbian women here relate to any of this, or am I insane?
