Asking for your thoughts for a very special friend. (UPDATED)

Last edited Sun Mar 11, 2012, 07:02 PM - Edit history (1)

He's a friend of mine from Nicaragua.

He's not been feeling well for the past couple of days and last night in my house he fell out and what looked like to me had vomited nearly 3 pints of blood. I called 911 and he was rushed to our trauma center.

He has no family here in America they would not release any information to me because I am not family so I lied and said he was my partner so I could get information on what was going on and to be able to visit him.

He came out of surgery about two hours ago. He's still in ICU in critical condition and not out of the woods.

This is a man with a heart of gold so all good thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Bill

Just got back from the hospital, he's still in critical condition but at least he's stable now.

Wasn't for sure if he was going to make it through the night so I stayed with him in case the worst happened (no one should ever pass on alone).

Apparently he had a varicose vein in his throat that popped (thats a new one on me, I only thought you could get those in your legs). He was literally bleeding to death inside his own body and at one point when he started to vomit thats where all the blood was coming from.

When the Emt's arrived at my house he was breathing but they could not get a blood pressure to read & when he got to the trauma center his blood pressure was only 53/23. They told me today if he had been 10 minutes later getting to the hospital he would not be with us now.

I hope this makes sense I'm still really stressed over this episode so I may not sound to coherent.

I want to that you all again for your thoughts & prayers, it has meant a lot.

Bill

healing thoughts and love to you both!

To look for the silver lining here, I'm glad to hear it was simply a varicose vein rather than something more important. If they stabilized him, I'm betting he'll come out of this okay.
