FORTY years ago today, ERA sent to states for ratification. we are STILL waiting

this is the ENTIRE text of the Equal Rights Amendment:

The text of the Equal Rights Amendment is:

Section 1. Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex.

Section 2. The Congress shall have the power to enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions of this article.

Section 3. This amendment shall take effect two years after the date of ratification.

Just LOOK at what we are facing TODAY as women. In so many ways, it is WORSE than 40 years ago. Did we ever think 40 years years ago we would be facing going back to the 16th Century?

I seem to remember that the legislature in hawaii was sitting in session, waiting for congress to send the bill, because they wanted to be the first state to ratify.

(was just googling to see if my memory is correct, but cannot find it. can anyone verify this for me? thanks in advance)
