1803: Sarah Hall Boardman Judson born (missionary)

1842: Mary Todd married Abraham Lincoln

1912: Pauline Trigere born (fashion designer)

1924: Nellie Tayloe Ross won special election in Wyoming, becoming the first woman elected as a governor in the United States

1965: Dickey Chapelle died, killed by a land mine in Vietnam, the first woman war correspondent killed in combat (journalist, anti-communist)

On of my favorite feminists was the Mormon lady who was excommunicated when we were trying to radify the equal rights amendment. The church was secretly fighting it just like on prop 8 in California. They had no business in politics then or now. Sonja Johnson. She gave the best talk.

I had the great good fortune to meet and talk with sonia years ago--she was truly an inspiration.
