Women's Rights & Issues
Related: About this forumPlease don't use "anti-abortion" Words/labels matter (opinion)
Calling those who are against reproductive choice "anti-abortion" is giving their arguments an implied credibility. No one is "pro-abortion."
Those who fight against the procedure are "anti-choice." Their screeds paint their opposition as heartless, immoral and amoral by calling them "pro-abortion."
Also refrain from calling anti-choicers "right-to-lifers" - as they show no concern for the lives of women. Their only concern is to deprive women of the right to make their own decisions.
Over the past 45 years, the right wing has proven the value of spin -- the way phrasing an issue can affect public influence. It's time we who value women's health and choices, especially when it comes to reproductive decisions, take the conversation back.
We're ALL anti-abortion. But most of us are NOT anti-choice.

(113,513 posts)the issue, and the fact that we should not go along with that framing. it has nothing to do with the actual legal medical procedure, as we have discussed repeatedly here.

(5,829 posts)They've had much more practice at spin. LW always depended on truth & facts. We need to unspin their BS.

Other replies to you are right. I'm 100% pro-choice. That means safe, affordable procedures that don't require 'waiting' periods, extended travel, gov't intrusion, ...
But I'm sick & tired of the antis claiming ANYONE is PRO- abortion so they can claim pro-choice equals immorality of any kind.
The obverse - antis are not anti-abortion, they're anti-choice.
