Kurt Busch suspended indefinitely by NASCAR

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Kurt Busch was suspended indefinitely by NASCAR on Friday after a judge in Delaware determined that “more likely than not” Busch “committed an act of abuse” against his former girlfriend Patricia Driscoll.

Busch’s No. 41 Chevrolet now will be driven by Regan Smith in Sunday’s Daytona 500.

Delaware Family Court judge David W. Jones issued a 26-page report Friday, saying he believed Driscoll’s claim that Busch put a hand around her neck and smashed her head three times against the wall of his motorhome Sept. 26 at Dover International Speedway. Jones said Driscoll was more believable because he found her “demeanor” and lack of motive to be more credible.

Driscoll went to court to ask for a protective order against Busch. He also was ordered to seek counseling for anger management.

It is refreshing to see NASCAR actually cares about women.
