Any way for a "senior) (69) to whiten up her teeth?

I'm embarrassed to smile in a photo as my teeth are quite dark and dingy. I hear ads for Power Strips, etc. but I don't want to peel the enamel off with something too strong.

Thanks!

Google around. You probably have some already on hand.

And that, no, you do not want a finance plan.

Perhaps they have an in office whitening procedure that is safer and more effective than the strips. I had that done on my lower teeth because they show less than my uppers in my smile.

Still may be a few hundred bucks though. If you have too many fillings in those teeth, it may not be an option like for me.

I had to save and save and find an office that worked with my insurance to convince them that a good part of the capping on the uppers was necessary for more than cosmetic reasons.

Good luck. If not successful, get busy learning a photo editing program to improve the images.

It became very important to me and am glad I did it.

the dentist can steer you to the best OTC whiteners.

I see old folks with bright white teeth and they look weird. Let him know you'd like to stay realistic if you get office treatments.

... for hundreds of dollars, but you can make your own.

The trays are nothing more than a soft plastic mouthguard like football players use. Buy two of appropriate size, onr for your uppers and one for your lowers, thinnest ones you can find. Dip them in boiling water as per the instructions, then when they get soft, fit them to your teeth. Mush them around a little to make them slightly larger - room for the whitening gel - than an athlete would want them. Trim away any excess or uncomfortable plastic.

Then acquire a few syringes of over-the-counter gel and use as directed. Depending on concentration and type of gel this may be for as few as 15 minutes 4-5 days, or overnight once or twice.

Google has many links to gels, including the same kind your dentist will sell you. Gels past their expiration date are much lower priced, but will work very well (I had some gel 3 years past and it worked fine). Opalescence is one good kind.

30s/40s and they rinse their teeth with a 50/50 solution of hydrogen peroxide nearly every day and they have teeth so white it could blind you. The whitening strips help, they are peroxide based, and easy to use, kind of pricey though. You may need to do a series of treatments with them if it's kind of bad, or you could just do a peroxide rinse over time and see how that works. I use the rinse solution on occasion myself, it's funky tasting but you don't swallow it either! The bad taste goes away after a short time.

is to try Colgate Optic White toothpaste. It works like strips, but is more affordable and easy.

If you can pair it with a Sonicare sonic toothbrush, you'll get results even quicker.

I'm planning on trying it soon, no idea if it works:

HOW TO MAKE YOUR TEETH 'SNOW WHITE':

Put a tiny bit of toothpaste into a small cup, mix in one teaspoon baking soda plus one teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide, and half a
teaspoon water. Thoroughly mix then brush your teeth for two minutes. Remember to do it once a week until you have reached the results you want. Once your teeth are good and white, limit yourself to using the whitening treatment once every month or two.

I've tried the strips but they are very costly and I didn't see a much change. Think I'm going to go with the peroxide and baking soda. Thanks again.
