using laparoscopic power morcellators to treat uterine fibroids can spread undiagnosed cancer.

FDA warns against using laparoscopic power morcellators to treat uterine fibroids.

There are several large lawsuits now.

And
Aetna to stop covering routine use of morcellator fibroid-removal device--breaking news.

These tools are used kinda like a hand blender, of course really really small, to moosh up the tissue and then it is suctioned out of the uterus.
Problem is the mooshing up part spreads possible undiagnosed cancer cells all thru the uterus.

I have been following this story since I saw a gyn doc last year, when such a procedure was a possibility.
Now happy to see one insurance company is wisely avoiding future lawsuits.
