More reasons to Break Out the Berries

I'd say a good 70-80% of health group readers ate berries today! Have some more.

Blueberries Contain Chemical That May Help Prevent Colon Cancer

ScienceDaily (Mar. 25, 2007) — A compound found in blueberries shows promise of preventing colon cancer in animals, according to a joint study by scientists at Rutgers University and the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The compound, pterostilbene, is a potent antioxidant that could be developed into a pill with the potential for fewer side effects than some commercial drugs that are currently used to prevent the disease. Colon cancer is considered the second leading cause of cancer death in the United States, the researchers say.

We planted 24 mixed HighBush & RabbitEye Blueberry Plants 4 years ago.
They are about waist high now, and growing strong.
Looking for a good harvest this year.

We are a little too far north (Central Arkansas) for Citrus,
so we went heavy on Berries when we moved here in 2006.

Besides all that "Health" stuff,
BlueBerries TASTE great,
and are easy to preserve for year round consumption.
