Do nerves sleep?

I have post herpetic neuralgia so I am in constant pain. I use a neuromodulation device made by Medtronic, Inc. in the daytime which I can adjust to address my pain. However, I have noticed that I am never bothered by nerve pain when I sleep. Perhaps I am just too tired from all the pain

I hardly ever feel it during the day. But I think it has more to do with the position I'm in than the time of day. I get the same gawd awful pain if I take a nap in the afternoon.
