The nitrofurantoin is not working on treating my UTI...

I got through to my doc today. He said that med was suited to my infection. I told him I was on my next to last day of the treatment and I am still in pain from the UTI. He told me it was designed for the type of infection I had but he will start me on Ciprol.

I am in lots of discomfort from this UTI. I've never had one that lasted this long while I was on medication.

This sucks big time...usually I get relief from antibiotics within a few days of medication...

Is Ciprol the same as Ciprofloxacin? If you haven’t had it before, please read the possible side effects.
Hope you find relief soon. ❤️

I don't understand why the first med didn't take care of it. In the past, the meds worked right away and I got relief within a day or so. This has been so infuriating and painful for me...

Or the next one. Finally the third one (can't remember the name) worked.

Keep trying. Hope you find one that works. UTIs can be stubborn and sometimes serious. Good luck!

...the causative organism and the antibiotics to which it is sensitive.

Are you familiar with the products that act as temporary numbing agents for the mucous membrane lining of the bladder? Quite effective, usually. Available by prescription and over-the-counter. Ask your doc. Don’t ever take this for bladder infection symptoms without submitting a specimen for analysis and culture first - this stuff is a dye and turns your pee bright orange and messes up lab results. It is not a treatment, but a supportive measure.

I hope you feel better soon.

I wouldn’t want to be giving health care advice that would interfere with the plan of the professional who is actually able to examine you, which, of course, I cannot do.

My mother is on day 16 in the hospital for a kidney cyst filled with ecoli and six times the size of her kidney on her left side. She's getting morphine and IV antibiotics. It was so large it was pressing on her spine. Keep on your doc until you get satisfaction. You deserve to be listened to and you need your kidneys to be healthy. Wishing you all the best.
