just as the -19 is from 2019, did not remember the year.

And, I suppose, there is a difference between the Cov and Covid designations.

that shares about 80% of its genome with the SARS CoV-1 virus. This one is about a tenth as deadly.

The much more lethal item which appeared earlier would be SARS-CoV-1. This current thing meets the standard of 'sudden acute respiratory syndrome' in its action, and is also a corona-class virus. Whether is some other relation between the two is beyond my knowledge.
