Olive-oil ... the eco-friendly alternative to shaving with soap / shaving-cream.

It started as a basic experiment I did on myself... and it works. One day I faintly remembered how people in Ancient Greece shaved with olive-oil and I decided to give it myself a try.



Step 1:
Fill a small cup/bowl with some olive-oil. 5mm (0.2 inch) deep is already plenty.

Step 2:
Wash your face with hot water.

Step 3:
Dip your razor in the oil to wet the blades. Shake off the excess. Shave for a few strokes, then rinse the razor with hot water, dip it in oil again and repeat. Repeat until shaved.

Step 4:
Wash your face with hot water and just a tiny bit of soap. Done. No need for aftershave.



The olive-oil
a) makes your skin slippery to prevent cuts
b) whatever remains on your skin after the shave effectively acts as a skin-moisturizer and gets absorbed eventually by the skin, preventing skin-irritation
c) the little bit of oil that remains on the razor-blades prevents them from getting dull from corrosion because the oil keeps water and oxygen away (Contrary to popular belief, it's not the act of cutting hair that makes razor-blades dull. It's the corrosion from soap and water.)






I'm gonna go look for skin-care oils. I bet they work even better.
