well, i got some very good health news.

i had an overdue dexiscan (and mammo) the other day. initial result i got was just a- has osteopenia. but i got the numbers today and, well, i sent this note to my doc-

i found my results quite exciting. i have had a dx of op for about 20 yrs now. so, that i am still in that range is great. but looking at the numbers, i see improvement. seems significant. i’ve had a rx for actonel, etc all that time, but have rarely actually taken it. the 1st doc who gave it to me said they were just guessing at the dosage and for all they knew taking it for a short time cd have lasting effects. looks to me like she was correct.
i have been making very good yoga progress and also back to working in my garden. very grateful, as this is what rly killed my mom. broke a hip, went right downhill.

all the numbers went up at least a bit, and the biggest jump was from 1.2 to 2.4 (whatever units it is.)

i’ve actually only taken a few doses in the last 3 yrs, cuz i had a lot of dental work done.
i was 1 of the early users of these drugs, but i swear if i took 1% of the pills i was given, i’d be surprised.
i do wish they would come up w a better delivery system. it has to be taken on an empty stomach, w nothing else for half an hour. aint no way i’m waiting a half hour for coffee. there are actually many times of day i could take it, but i think about pills twice a day. that’s hard enough.

i’ve been pretty good about vitd/calcium, too. i tend to be low, so i get nagged about that one. but my other issues have made exercise hard for a good bit of those yrs. doing well on that now, tho.

so, def not intended as medical advice. just sharing happy news.

Rarely hear about anyone's bones getting stronger without significant medication. Whatever you have been doing obviously is working!
