I didn't get off as easily as I thought after the new Covid vax yesterday. Question for healthcare

professionals / scientists.

In my post yesterday I confidently declared the newest Covid vax (plus flu shot) had milder side effects than past shots. I spoke too soon! I had light chills in the wee hours and a slight headache. Tylenol did the trick. Even felt well enough to go see the Equalizer movie (it was great but quite violent so not for the faint of heart). Got home and chills came back and nagging light headache returned. It got me thinking, my husband who weights 150 to my 95 pounds never has side effects. Since we are never asked our weights, I assume we are given the same amount of vaccine. Could it be because I’m getting much more vaccine per pound than he is?

Thanks!

Still thrilled we got vaxxed despite the small inconvenience of being under the weather.

As a result I have the flu shot about 2 wks. later, rather than doubling up.
This is personal experience only. Not in the medical field.

Have you had the RSV shot? Pharmacist told us yesterday it was a one time shot, not annually like Covid and Flu. I’m planning for us to get that next week. WonderfulHusband has COPD and I want to protect him anyway I can 🙂.

Another thing I do, BTW is drink more water when I get the shots.

I told her that I planned to get a COVID booster, an influenza vaccine, and an RSV vaccine, “but not all at once.” She nodded, and said, “Two weeks between, if it’s convenient.”

Several years ago (flu and pneumonia) and came down with 103 degree fever. The pharmacist and lots of online articles said there were no problems with getting both at once. When I reported the reaction to a different pharmacist, she said “oh, that’s too much medicine to get at once.” I just don’t think they have the evidence. So going forward I won’t take any combination of shots at the same time.

1. Everyone gets the same dose the pharma recommends (*) and

2. Everyone's different, and changes over even a matter of days.

You're fine. Oh, that's 3.

(*) Seniors get a bigger flu dose.

And that's the extent of my medical knowledge.

The Covid booster isn’t available until September 29th. Is it just Florida or my location? Both Walgreens and CVS have it posted.

Walgreens site said I could make an appointment online for September 19th and later. So I was super surprised when I asked the pharmacy tech and she told me they just got it yesterday afternoon and she would register me without me having to sign up online like I’ve had to do in the past. I had tried to get an appointment on the 19 through onlin and kept getting to the very last step and then it wouldn’t complete.

Might be worth asking them in person or calling.

I got my covid booster with my flu shot.
Omg I was miserable got 1 shot in each arm it hurt arms were useless.
Got the full array of symptoms, chills ,body aches, headache fever.

I recommend getting your flu shot and covid boosters on different days and not putting shots in both arms.

Is safer, despite the online advice saying it’s fine to get them at once. I suspect that your being small is probably a factor too.
