Covid Vaccines are getting expensive - if you don't have insurnace

I got the most recent one, Moderna, at CVS Pharmacy. They submitted it to my Medicare insurance which paid its part. No copay for me. But I saw it in my claims reports, did not recognize it so called and got the explanation. The plan paid $185.19.

But last May I was at my doctor's office and while the decided to have the then recent one. The plan then paid.. $43.07 (The claim was $120).

The flu shot, however, they charged me $4.40..

Oh well..

I hope that Obamacare pays for these vaccines.

My Medicare kicks in 12/1. I cannot wait. So, Walgreens has pared with UHC for covid shots. I go there for spikevax, and the tech informs me UHC is not paying for it. $250. I'm pissed. Next day go to publix, they run it, and it goes through and costs me $0.

I have no clue.

Expected to pay a couple hundred plus for the shot. But my locally owned pharmacy staff said my insurance benefit covered it.

Had noticed a pretty big range of cost for the RSV shot, so maybe it depends on the pharmacy?

What You Need to Know

CDC’s Bridge Access Program provides free COVID-19 vaccines to adults without health insurance and adults whose insurance does not cover all COVID-19 vaccine costs. This program will end by December 31, 2024. Use these resources to promote the program and expand equitable access for COVID-19 vaccination.

Free Updated COVID-19 Vaccines Available to Adults

Free updated COVID-19 vaccines are available to most adults living in the U.S. through their private health insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid plans. However, there are 25-30 million adults without health insurance and additional adults whose insurance does not cover all COVID-19 vaccine costs. CDC’s Bridge Access Program provides free COVID-19 vaccines for these adults.

Free COVID-19 Vaccines for Adults Without Health Insurance

Adults 18 years and older without health insurance and adults whose health insurance does not cover all COVID-19 vaccine costs can get free updated COVID-19 vaccines through the Bridge Access Program.

Get Free COVID-19 Vaccines Near You

You can get free COVID-19 vaccines at healthcare providers, federally supported health centers, and pharmacies participating in the Bridge Access Program. Visit vaccines.gov to find providers that offer free COVID-19 vaccines through the Bridge Access Program. Providers participating in the Bridge Access Program are contractually obligated to add vaccine availability to vaccines.gov. We expect reported availability to increase in the coming weeks.
Local Healthcare Providers

State and local health departments are working with local healthcare providers to distribute free COVID-19 vaccines through providers in network.

Local Health Centers

State and local immunization programs are working with HRSA-Supported Health Centers to provide free COVID-19 vaccines. Health Resources & Services Administration is providing funding to HRSA-Supported Health Centers to support services that will help ensure equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines.

Pharmacies

CDC established new contracts with CVS, Walgreens, and eTrueNorth through existing Increasing Community Access to Testing (ICATT) contracts to provide free COVID-19 vaccines.
