Prosecutors say they were involved in a business called Project GreenLife, which imported sodium chlorite from Canada, and that they sold the chemical online as a "miracle mineral supplement." Buyers were instructed to mix it with orange juice or other source of citric acid before drinking it.

short article, not much more than this. I hate scammers, and I feel badly for the people who bought into this shit but at the same time, if it sounds too good to be true, it most likely is. Just saw on Pinterest today that Coconut Oil is good for your skin (it is), can moisturize your hair (it does) and when applied topically can cure herpes (it can't), and when taken internally can cure cancer, recerses dementia, rids one of alzheimers, HIV, TB and polio, among other things (it can't). But people buy into this shit (do a search of "coconut oil" and "miracle cure" on pinterest and you'll be inundated with the shit)

(15,812 posts)It can't really be a "scam" because there are zillions of kinds of coconut oil, and nobody has a lock on it. So it isn't exactly a magic pill. I also can't see the FDA raiding a distributor and confiscating coconut oil. That won't work.
Pinterest is too confusing for me!
Coconut oil contains caprylic acid, and some companies do encapsulate that, but I thought that was a kind of mild anti-yeast compound of some sort??
I love coconut oil. I hope the FDA doesn't try to ban coconut oil. That would be
