Interesting disk from Netflix

I just got "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo." It came in the regular Netflix sleeve but the disk itself was just a copied disk with the title written on it with magic marker. I've never had that happen before. No label at all.

Has anyone else received a disk like this?

It appears to be a disk that Lisbeth made. The one we rented from our local video store looked like that.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/film/film-news/9158437/Film-buyers-fooled-by-Sonys-The-Girl-with-the-Dragon-Tattoo-DVD-joke.html

The DVD of the American remake of 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' will hit American shelves this week, but those who have got hold of the disk early have had a shock.

The disk has been sent out to shops in its box as a blank home-burned DVD with the title carelessly hand-written in a black permanent marker.

One commenter posted on the film forum MidWest Tape this week: "I almost had a fit and retuned this to Redbox", referring to the American rental service.

Redbox have had to post a warning message to renters in response to the confusion on their website: "NOTE TO RENTERS: The handwritten look on the disc of this movie is legitimate and is intended to look like a burned DVD."

We had the same reaction when it came out of the Redbox.

I was like "Great. Now I'm going to get stuck with a bogus disk and a charge for a lost disk"

We even studied the disk for markings. The machine won't even accept a return if the disk is in the case without the markings visible to the scanner.

I've seen something similar a few years back, but can't remember the name of the movie now.

It certainly has generated discussion of the movie, which probably was the purpose.

I thought it was really good. I've been meaning to watch the original trilogy on Netflix but I haven't gotten to it yet.

Can't really say why though.

I enjoyed the entire trilogy. I had read the books first.
