(115,856 posts)but if you don't mind subtitles check out the original Swedish version, En man som heter Ove, which I think is even better, though the cat gets more scenes in Hanks' version. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt4080728/ I think it's on Amazon Prime.

(9,676 posts)Of course, our throats got all tight in the end and one of us got misty-eyed.
Mr Hanks did well yes, but I have to give the woman who played Marisol the hats-off in this one.

Altho can't imagine anyone saying just the idea of this movie is great? Suicide, loneliness, death, eviction, poverty, anal retentiveness, ostracization due to sexual orientation?
Great! Pop some popcorn!!!

(7,286 posts)I just finished watching the first season of the Diplomat with Keri Russell who I became familiar with in her role in the tv series The Americans. It was available on Netflix when they did discs. I liked that show at the time.
I highly recommend Diplomat.
Last night I watched the last episode in the Diplomat... so I need to find something else. I'll check out Otto.

The storyline is so common its a cliche, but its done so well it feels completely new. Hanks is perfect. He never has a conversion to Mr. Rogers, which is how these feel good movies normally turn out. He remains himself throughout.
The neighbors could have easily been a cliche as well, but they werent. Same with the feral cat. I may watch it again, but only if I have a good supply of tissues.
