I just tried to watch Beasts of the Southern Wild
Delightful story, wonderful premise, and impossible to watch because of the constant moving of the camera.
I actually got a mild case of vertigo, and felt cross eyed thruout the film until I had to bail halfway thru.
Both the rapid moving of the camera and the repeated extremely quick cuts made every scene a huge effort to follow.
Anyone else have a problem watching it?

(23,796 posts)I don't get seasick, either. The only two silver linings to the whole mess.
But I understand if you do. Mostly, I find that style of filmmaking too obtrusive. The UK Shameless does it way too much. "Look here! Look here! Look, I'm making you look here!"

but man, this movie....
Plus they did the "blurry opening" in quite a few scenes.
the only thing they did not do is shine headlights or flashlights directly into the camera.
My poor eyes wanted to leave long before I let them.

(4,178 posts)I think it would have won an Oscar in a year with less competition. That little girl could have deserved the Oscar also.
Great movie. Try it.

(60,015 posts)one of those inexplicable things - we went to a theater to see it. Just didn't hit us well....I think the abusive, angry father and his treatment of his daughter is what turned my wife and I both off about it. Certainly an impressive movie in many ways, though.
