Anyone using Channel Pear?
I have it downloaded on my Roku and so far love it. It runs live streams of a number of channels and, at this time, is free. It is a private channel so it's not available in the channel store but here's a link to the site.

(29,674 posts)and there is no special service needed. The only special equipment would be a Roku player. I'm not sure if you can get it on any other players at this time but you might want to look over the forums.

(48,217 posts)I THINK it's a way to get around the BBC iPlayer restrictions.
At least I was able to get BBC 1 and ITV.
xmas74
(29,674 posts)but I've heard good things about the ITV feed.
Oh, and keep checking back on channels, especially check the forums. It's so new they are adding things daily.

(7,321 posts)i'm attempting to make an effort to try and resolve right now. after the bouncy bouncy Roku floater thingy and my apps a load up, suddenly everything disappears and the "no signal" message appears on my screen. I have the Roku stick. I have excellent wireless signal. Have reset on a number of times, been on tech support with service provider etc etc etc...

(29,674 posts)weakening the signal? Or maybe too many apps?
Every time I have the bouncing Roku show up I usually just need to update something.

(7,321 posts)Before I went out for the night last night I finally managed to get to my settings on the screen before losing the signal, after several attempts to get there. I was avoiding factory reset because I didn't want to have to reset my passwords and email address with each app that I use. Haven't tried to see if everything's working properly this morning, but I want to run Pandora, involving another "sign in" procedure. Before I run Pandora, I'm going to attempt to remove most of the apps I never use which automatically uploads on my screen. I guess it has to be done on line on my computer. I haven't seen a way to do that on the tv screen. Do you know if that's doable? I also noticed I no longer have a way to view/access my personal Youtube channels.
Interesting that the more technology develops the more screwy it is for users and how much more we have to learn to figure out how this stuff works. Ridiculous.

(29,674 posts)You can delete on the Roku player easily. Go to the channel store and look at the channels you no longer want. On there it should give the option to delete the channel. I did that a while ago with a guest who loaded Fox News on a bedroom Roku. Or, if that's the problem, you might need a bigger SD card to store more memory.

(7,321 posts)Tech Support is SOOOOOO LAME. if a user has the Roku Stick the way to remove unwanted channels, is to click on the * on the remote. That action then brings up the option to remove function.
Tech support kept insisting that "option" to remove feature appears at the bottom of the screen once clicking "ok" on my remote. No where in sight for stick users anyway!
I love Roku when it's functioning, but it when it isn't it's quite a hassle.. I suppose I shouldn't complain since after all, it's only usurping my time and not my money. IOTW I should just STFU .. it's FREE TV after all

(28,867 posts)So how do you know what it is exactly that you're going to watch
on BBC1 or ITV?
Is there a schedule somewhere?
Lydia Leftcoast
(48,217 posts)The Guardian has a TV section with the day's highlights. If you consult it early in the morning and figure out how your time zone relates to British time, you can tune in when you need to.

(29,674 posts)I've had no problems but I read of a few complaints. Personally, I'm just happy to have BBC and ITV.

(48,217 posts)Of course, prime time in the UK is afternoon here, and don't usually watch in the afternoon, but I just happened to turn it on and found an episode of "Murder in Paradise" (season 3, not yet available in the U.S., as far as I know) running with no problems.

(29,674 posts)I need to watch it more.
The UK is 6 hours ahead if you are in the Central Time Zone of the US
ITV The vertical line shows how far into the program has already played

There was a comment at the Channel Pear site that the BBC1 listed is the regional BBC1 for Scotland so that is what I have listed but I don't know if that is accurate. The main schedule should be the same.
What is currently playing is highlighted as "On Now"
