They changed the main character, and I kinda drifted off after that, watching other shows. Now that you mention it, I may go back.

much to my wife's dismay.

When you think it can't get any better with Ben Miller, they come up with Kris Marshall. And once Kris Marshall is gone, I think the next detective will be Ardal O'Hanlon, who is a riot.

And the supporting cast has been fantastic.

Ok, you have to like police procedurals and really go into this with a willing suspension of disbelief. But I would argue that you won't be disappointed. Though, as I noted, my wife disagrees.

The have changed the lead actor twice. The first two did the show and left because they both had young families and wanted to be able to spend more time with them (very understandable). The newest lead is an older actor so they might have more stability now.

I have like all three leads as they brought different aspects to their characters. And of course I love the setting: sun, sand, water, tropical paradise.

Admittedly there are only six episodes each season now. We do all need other sources for our “fix”.

Death in Paradise is a fun romp with pretty good drawing room mysteries where all the suspects are assembled for the denouement. The series has survived several major cast changes while remaining surprising unscathed.

A stuffy British policeman gets reassigned to a Caribbean island. Adventures and misadventures follow. Very 'drawing room mystery' at the end, where all the suspects are brought together and the killer is revealed.

We absolutely LOVED it! (And love Midsomer as well! Just can't figure out how there are any people left in Midsomer, since they kill off so many in each episode :-p)

So many recommendations!
I'm all about the drawing-room denouement, having recently done all of Poirot, so this sounds perfect!

The first two season were much better acted, the later episodes are a bit of a disappointment, but in spite of that we can’t stop watching!

And am now up to season three.

It's got a bit of humor mixed in with the murders. I find it fun.

A little note - I am also watching Doc Martin for the first time. Yesterday I realized the character Stuart the game warden is played by the lead on Death in Paradise. What a contrast in characters for an actor!

These days I am rotating among Midsomers Murders, Broadchurch, Death in Paradise, Doc Martin, Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries, and the Great British Baking Show. Since I've only been on Netflix a little over a month, most of these are new to me. It's fun!
