Sure, the movie was all sappy, but it worked. So, read and watch.

I'm not finished watching it all yet, but so far I really like it. It has a lot of quirky characters, a unique setting and a multipart storyline that transitions between two time periods around WWII. There is a touch of romance, intrique, suspence, and a bit of humor woven through the mystery of a missing woman.

Enjoyed the movie. Wanted to visit the island after reading the book. After the movie...well, I want to see it even more.
