Meeting with my (new) oncologist this afternoon

My previous one moved back out of state to be closer to her family, so this guy was a colleague, so I assume he's roughtly familiar with the case, but we're going to go over alternatives, if I want any, and his interpretation of the results of my last scan (colon cancer, mets spread throughout the lungs and now on the adrenal gland itself.

Trying not to speculate but getting increasingly stressed as the day moves on.

was bringing him up to date. He needs to research more exactly what has been (or not been) done and why (or why not); things have been a bit hectic since my oncologist left and the replacement's only been there for a week (I'm working with the one that was partnered with my old one). We're going to discuss this a bit more in the next few days, whether we want to revisit treatment options or not. However, since we had to stop the old treatment because, among other things, it was trashing my platelets, I don't know that he'll have any info or not, and I also don't know if I could continue to work if we do resume, so lots of questions to be answered still.

Thanks for everyone's support - I'll let you know when we figure out the next step (if any).

((((Best))))

It is great that he is researching and not just going off the top of his head. You have been through enough for 'more of the same' just because.

we've learned there are local hem oncs that have one set of rules and then transplant hematologist/oncologists that have different parameters as to when they should intervene. I would imagine there are oncologists who specialize in your disease as well.

Hoping this new oncologist will give you a path forward.

You know the drill - one day at a time. That's the best we can do. Keep us posted on how you're doing and how things are going please.

Looks like he's made a recommendation, but sounded like you weren't sure if you were going to do it. Have you made a decision? I know you've been through so many treatments and I know with my dad and how bad he felt after 10 years of it, that it's really hard to make a decision to feel bad again.

Just wanted to drop by to check in on you. Thinking good thoughts for you.

seeing other things. Although just the change of doctors has got to be stressful after building faith in your previous oncologist.

glad to see you still posting.

I wish I could stand in her place and take her fear and anxiety for her. I can imagine the doctor patient relationship with cancer patients is a special and very important one. I hope you continue to have a good relationship with your doctor.
