Question/thought about rehydrating dried chipotles.

During my bike ride today, I thought about rehydrating chiptoles in tequila. Anybody done something similar? Don't want to waste tequila and peppers if it is going to be a bust. I think it would add a nice flavor profile and then the tequila would be a nice flavor for making fajitas or something.

that I can when tomatoes are ready. Yeah, I was WAY thinking ahead today. But I am going to toss a couple chipotles into the black beans I'm cooking in the slow cooker on Wednesday. I couldn't think of any reason why it wouldn't work for rehydrating the peppers but I often overlook things.

I hadn't thought of steeping herbs or peppers in alcohol, but it would certainly add something to mixed drinks later. And it would work for those recipes that used tequila.

I think your idea of using it to marinate fajitas would be great. When cooked, the alcohol would be gone but leave a taste.

If using it uncooked, the tequila could be added to salad instead of balsamic vinegar to make tart. It might even make guacamole last longer?

Just thinking out loud, there. Hope that helps.

Might have to try some vodka, too. Make some awesome martinis (I hate gin). And the guacamole is going to happen. Even if it doesn't make it last longer, guacamole with chipotle infused tequila has GOT to be good.

Add in their favorite peppers to make a hot and spicy oil for cooking. I used to go to a place called Mongolian Grill where one picked out vegetables and oils to saute on the grill.

There are also sesame oils available with cayenne peppers steeped or infused, as some would say. There used to be a lot of herbal recipes about adding rosemary, etc. to olive oil, as it acts as a preservative but any alcohol would work great.

Let us know how the guacamole turns out!
