Related: About this forumSimple but tasty cooking - crab cakes w/remoulaude sauce + pico de gallo
I've scaled back on my cooking adventures this last year (medical reasons) but have taken the time to work on simple things that taste good without requiring a ton of effort.
My local supermarket seafood dept sells small crabcakes - about two per person if you're also adding some light addition (salad, maybe). They're precooked (I hope) so I usually heat them for about 10 mins or so in a 400 degree convection oven. Then, plated, I put on some spoonfuls of remoulade sauce, which you can usually find in the condiment section or sometimes with the seafood, and on top of that some spoonfuls of fresh pico de gallo, which my supermarket happens to sell little containers of for about $2.
The crab cakes and remoulade are traditional, but the pico de gallo sets it off, the cilantro in the pico de gallo adds a nice edge, and the coolness of the pico de gallo contrasts with the temp of the crabcakes and the sharpness of the remoulade.

(11,093 posts)I find tartar sauce so boring. I think you'll like this.
I don't drench them in remoulade, I just put on a forkfull and spread it on the top (maybe two depending on the fork and the crabcake).
Then spoon the pico de gallo on top (must be fresh! Not that canned crap). Adds nice presentation too.
