What's for Dinner, Sat., Dec. 30, 2023

Friends are coming over tonight and everyone is bringing something:

chicken wings
pizza

I'm doing the salad, which is Boston bibb lettuce and red tip lettuce, torn. Roasted beets, and goat cheese marinated in olive oil with black pepper.

Pomegranate kombucha.

Dessert, if we want any, is strawberry cheesecake or shortbread cookies.

But dessert! My daughter made some Dutch butter cookies and brought some for the holidays. The last pieces were stale, so I poured some rum over them and made some sweetened whipped cream. Just what I needed!

Pulled pork with spicy barbecue sauce.

Cole slaw, southern potato salad and macaroni and cheese with crumbled bacon.

Key lime pie.

Pomegranate martini.

All from a wonderful restaurant in Belhaven, NC called Spoon River. A delicious menu of farm-to-fork selections. We've been there several times and the menu choices always change. (Hope that doesn't sound like a commercial!)

I have breast cutlets sous vide, ready to finish. I still need to make some marinara though, so I have to do a quick trip to the grocery store. Any minute now, lol.

made with ground beef, veal, lamb, and pork, carrots, celery, onions, and bread crumbs. We're going to try to make a gravy with leftover mushroom soup. Maybe I used too many carrots - it looks kinda orange!

the refrigerator. I was at a friend's house; we drank red wine and munched on a dried fruit tray that we received as a gift. I also showed her "You Can't Take It With You" which she loved. It is the Jason Robards version (Best in the Business) It was on You Tube. There are a lot of stage plays on You Tube!

When I got home, he was in the middle of making ice cream! It is going to be good: chocolate with some coconut folded in
