What's for Dinner, Sun., Dec. 31, 2023

Last edited Sun Dec 31, 2023, 07:52 PM - Edit history (1)

Seafood platter with cold salmon and dill-sour cream sauce, shrimp cocktail, and herring. Also whitefish salad with club crackers.

Kinda' tame tonight since we celebrated last night. With friends who are musicians, that is what you have to do because they are all working tonight.

Pomegranate kombucha.

Dessert: the strawberry cheesecake we didn't get around to last night.

It also has grilled tomato and is on a brioche bun.
I already had half of it with a latte at the bakery. Kind of bland but that is what I wanted.
I also packed a coconut water drink.
I will be on a redeye flight tonight all night long and hope to sleep part of it.
No dessert; I don't need a sugar rush tonight!

Lots of mace, so fragrant, with carrots onions and noodles.
Rare and lovely sticky finger meal.

they had giant bagels for brunches, so all (but shrimp cocktail available.)

My dinner will be spaghetti with a great marinara specialty of MD pizza place (Ledo,) with broccoli.

And a sip of of my favorite wine, a white zin (with 'exotic fruits,' sadly the vintner's no longer in business) and prosecco.

Coffee ice cream later (and maybe a bit of Lindt's dark chocolate with orange, OR locally hand-made dark chocolate bark, with blue berries and pomegranate.)

Appetizers: smoked salmon log, veggies and dip, smoked bay scallops, fancy nuts
Dinner: steak and lobster tail, baked potato, celery -parm salad, relishes
Dessert: Panna cotta with raspberry sauce
Cocktails and wine for them. Sparkling lemon water for me.

Special splurge on dinner for 4 retired folks.

I had some barley soup with cabbage in it earlier, so I think I have the lucky food covered.

Happy New Year!

made from leftovers of the Christmas pork butt
I had to go all over for the tomatillos. Found fresh ones at the local Food Lion, yay! Onions, white beans, chili seasoning. I'll do it in the Instant Pot, which makes great chili.
Shredded cheese, sour cream, and avocado to top it off.
Corn muffins to go with.

Didn't do anything special to it at all--salt & pepper and fried in the pan
baked potato w/ sour cream
steamed carrots and zucchini

We started w/ a typical garden salad

dessert is chocolate cream pie
