Haven't been back to the mainland since before Memorial Day, but it's time for a visit.

Need some boat maintenance/repair, reprovisioning, fuel and we are picking up some friends who will take a trip to the outer islands with us.

Leftovers are on the menu for today and tomorrow!

i'm working straight through to next thursday and, since i won't be getting home until 10 or so most of those night, i'm not expecting to do much cooking unless i toss stuff in the crock pot.

hope you're doing well, lucinda.

baked russets and a tossed green salad with (always) homemade dressing. Slices off the whole wheat loaf I made on Tuesday. Nothing spectacular but good. I intended to make a new recipe today, but it's muggy and foggy out and I don't feel like taking the 5 mile hike to pick up the coconut milk.

5. Broiled swordfish kabobs w/onion & bell pepper. Sweet potato fries. Corn/tomato/chili salsa side.

Pay day, treat day. Swordfish was on sale at the market, so got a medium sized fillet. I'm going to cube and broil it all.

Still pricey, but left overs will go into an omelet tomorrow morning or onion soup for Friday. Or both.

Fresh cranberries are in the supermarket! Might make some cranberry bread today while I'm making a pumpkin pie for the family kindergartner to have tomorrow, the end of the week.

Yesterday, Wednesday, he sighed and said..."I think tomorrow is my day off..." So sorry, kiddo, you have about 18 more years of this grind. (I didn't tell him that.)

Old-time salmon patties use canned salmon, crushed saltines or crumbs, minced onion, egg, some milk and a splop of lemon juice. I add a good spoon of dill weed. Sauteed in butter till brown and crispy-edged. A popular dish in mid-century America.

Those turkey sausages from WF are soooo good!

I mixed all this together into a big soup. Lots of garlic. A little cheese on top.

It's easy and cooks up very quickly. I'm busy dealing with off-season clothes. I hate this time of year. I need long pants and a few pair of shorts to wear depending on the weather. It was 73 degrees and rainy and humid today. By Saturday it's supposed to be in the mid 50s with low humidity.
