(29,098 posts)Probably why I think it tastes really good. I rarely eat the stuff. It's pretty easy to make a healthy version with better than boullion, a little onion and some brown rice. You can add the noodles or not.... Just toast the rice and finish it with stock.

(8,747 posts)Macaroni is great..by itself. Hell, I even crunch DRY macaroni as a snack. But, Rice-A-Roni is one of the worst boxes of crap ever. Bought some one time. Tried one box, gave the rest away.

(30,884 posts)Near East pilaf is decent (although a bit high in sodium for my liking.) Making it from scratch is easy and even better.
Now Rice-a-roni, that one is pretty vile.

It was served at a gathering and I didn't even know what it was. A mere half-cup serving nearly laid me up for the night.
