Related: About this forumPinto has a new (hardly used) refrigerator!
The house four doors up from me is owned by a ranching family from Salinas or thereabouts. Hardly ever used. They spend a week or two each year here and their kids come to the coast to surf every so often. Otherwise it's unoccupied. A second home. Nice folks from what little I've seen of them.
Either they are fixing to sell it or are actually moving in. A lot of remodeling, landscaping has been going on for a few weeks. Anyway, the remodeling crew had the fridge on the sidewalk today with a For Sale sign and a price.
In great shape. Asked the owner if he'd come down on the price some. We came to a good bargain. The crew had an appliance dolly on hand and we wheeled the piece to my back door. Tomorrow it goes into the kitchen!

(60,010 posts)Imagine getting a practically new fridge at a very good price and having it hauled over to the house for ya.
One of the things I DO miss about living in a populated area...lack of bargains like that from garage sales and etc.

Welcome to the ranks of the fully adult, Pinto, and I hope the new fridge behaves itself for a very long time.

Or maybe the right word is "pathetic" ?

(106,886 posts)Got the fridge into the walkway behind my house, tarped and taped it tight (we're having rain) yet with no clue how I'll get it into the house. There's a 2 - 3 foot stoop at the back door and a real narrow clearance all around. And it'll take a dolly plus some muscle to heft it in. So tomorrow is an SOS day to line up some help. It'll work out yet I had to laugh - you made a good on the spot deal, got it this far, now what?

(111,277 posts)You should be able to rent a big one somewhere. Or you could let your fingers do the walking and find some carrying straps and a buddy to help you budge it.
