(22,720 posts)So far, this is what I'm planning for our wedding anniversary dinner:
Steak Flambe Moutarde
Oven roasted cauliflower
Greek Salad with beets and feta (Or maybe Caesar Salad)
Store bought mini carrot cake
But it could change as the day wears on.

We're also having a bottle of French sparkling wine and a very nice Bordeaux.

(272 posts)Thought of having a salad with it, but decided to add a carrot and a red pepper to the soup instead and buzz it all into a chunky, tasty puree with my immersion blender.
I like that term "buzz it all." I will think of that next time I'm using my immersion blender.

(35,687 posts)Takes me back to my college years when I frequented a restaurant called The Bleu Ox. Their specialty was that burger you made tonight.
Ummm. And memories that make me happy.

(146,218 posts)I'm not a big mushroom lover, but it's a texture thing. Pureeing the soup gave me all the flavor without the "chewiness".
That beet salad is one of my favorties. I first had it in a restaurant in New Orleans and have made it at home for years.
Enjoy and stay warm!

(35,687 posts)What I wouldn't give for a meal like that.
Except it would make glycemic levels go sky high. Except for the beans, maybe.
Well, sigh, glad you can enjoy.
Signed,
enviously yours,
