(22,715 posts)My brother just caught a whole mess of them. Nothing like fresh perch!

(146,218 posts)I have some cheddarwursts (I know, I know, but I love them). I'm going to wrap them in flour tortillas and either fry them or bake them. A can of baked beans, which I will doctor. And some salad.
It just feels like one of those days.

(22,145 posts)I've been baking paskas (Easter bread) all day and making the beets and horseradish. Going to my Mom's on Easter day - the first major holiday she has hosted since my Dad passed away in 2004. I think this is all too much for her (dinner for 17), but we are all bringing something.

(12,253 posts)And some gawd-awful (evidently mock) rice that was supposed to be Arborio. I didn't begin with a roux because I wanted a lighter version and it turned out well, not soupy at all. And it was chocked full of veggies, lima beans, corn, tomatoes, carrot, peas, green beans, and the Cajun Trinity of celery, bell pepper, and onion. I also added garlic for its anti-inflammatory properties. I deglazed with white wine as I cooked the mirepoix, the chicken chunk, and the sausage, and added some fresh thyme as well as a dash of Old Bay seasoning. Mr. Pup was in heaven. Happy Easter!

(35,683 posts)But no wine in the house. That made me very crabby.
Yellerpup, that sounds like quite the production! I got the image of you conducting a symphony as I read it.
Lucky Mr. Pup!

(12,253 posts)Outrageous! No wonder you were crabby. I do like kitchen conducting and bringing the whole production to crescendo. The gumbo tasted great but caused an arthritis flare up with the nightshade vegetables so prominent in this dish. I'll get better as the day goes along--but no leftover gumbo for me! I should make some meatballs. Delicious!
