(17,138 posts)I know, weird. How do you think it would taste to substitute butter for the mayo?

(39,961 posts)or butter and sour cream with lemon have always seemed an appropriate substitute for mayo to me, but I'll let the person that generously offered the recipe to our community decide what is a good substitute, if any.

(22,747 posts)Even if you hate mayo, it keeps the salmon super moist. It has a tendency to dry out on the grill. So trust me on this. Just do it once. If you don't like it, don't do it again. Our family motto is "Try new things." And to answer, what are capers. They're these little flower tops that are pickled. Hard to describe. They're available at most major grocery stores and especially cheap at Trader Joe's. They really make the dish.
