crab salad rolls tonight. Easy peasy. It's gotta get good and cold in fridge before serving.

Lump crab meat (canned & squeezed dry)
lots of diced celery
Hellman's mayonnaise

Will grill hot dog rolls, line with lettuce then fill with crab meat. Serve with coleslaw and a few fries.

The whole meal sounds perfect for a Sat. night.

I'm going to rev up the grill here and cook steaks and chicken. It's so hot and muggy here that we'll just have that to nibble on if we get hungry. Nobody's hungry around here, though: everyone shrugs and blames the weather.

and will cut into the watermelon that we didn't feel like slicing on the 4th of July. It's so muggy. I just want to sit here and not move.

And corn. Not sure where it's from (too early to be from around here) but it's really good.

I may eat it in front of an open oven set at 325 degrees as it's only 99 here in Tucson tpday.

here on the 4th and brought green beans, crowder peas, beautiful corn, cucumbers, zuchs & yellow squash. I cooked the peas, grilled the zuchs & some chicken last night, cut the corn off the cob, made a salad of tomatoes, cukes & green onion. Tonight, I cooked the green beans, yellow squash and roasted a cauliflower I bought earlier in the week. After the corn is gone, I will dream about it forever--it was heavenly. We'll have leftovers for the week ahead.

Edit: Oh, and the peaches coming in now are getting better by the day. I always tried to stay true to Georgia peaches since that's where I live, but my-oh-my, the ones I've been eating from South Carolina are awe-inspiring. Oh well, I was born in Beaufort, SC, so I won't quibble.

As part of my healthier cuisine, I've acquired several Cuban and Caribbean cookbooks.

Tonight I made Breast of Chick Al Ajillo (with garlic sauce) and Rum-Flavored Black Beans and Brown Rice.

Making dinner was a feat due to the heat and having no A/C.

The engine works, the weather is perfect and we are very fully provisioned.

We are going to a friends for a caviar and pasta dinner. He has some friends who just came in from Russia and will be bringing the cavier. And he will be making the pasta, which is always perfect.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!
