(Side note) Picked my first cuke today! Celebrated with an al fresco lunch.

Romaine, tomato, cucumber, red onion salad with basil, thyme and a nice sharp vinaigrette. Garlic rounds with cream cheese and chives. Red grapes, olives, dates. Sparkling white wine cooler with strawberries.

Water is almost warm enough to swim and the gloom is clearing by early afternoon.

Enjoy your cuke, my friend.

An heirloom variety called "German Sour" -- perfect for a large pot, and producing itty bitty cucumbers about an inch long that look like little striped watermelons.

I haven't tasted one yet. Looking forward to it!

Your lunch sounds delicious.

We've picked a lot so far. My daughter made two jars of refrigerator pickles already. They're not Claussen's but they're every bit as good.
