I'm kind of stunned that they have so little to do as to ridicule recipes. I've seen Warpy, and several others absolutely torn apart by people with nothing better to do than tear apart people personally when they post recipes for food
Not attempting to tear apart the nation, but to share RECIPES.

(39,961 posts)I advocated for chickens to drink more water since that would cause global warming (what?). I admit, I went there, but it was such convoluted bullcrap I couldn't keep track. On thing I'm sure of. Aerows is a lesbian. (I am) She weighs two hundred pounds and is ugly (I weigh 110 as a blond and can disprove that with a single photograph). DU is Wharbarggl.

Seriously....I'd just ignore them. As long as you don't post personal, traceable, info here, they can't really hurt you. They have been trash talking C&B for a long time. Sorta sad actually.
Aerows

(31,170 posts)I was sent links for posts from a couple of years back (or more) and I know some of them have been DU posters in the past (if not currently as moles) - From what I saw in the past, some were really nice, but others like to pretend that we post elitist recipes but all actually eat ramen noodles, or something like that. Whatever floats their boats.
I really wouldn't give them a second thought.

(31,170 posts)I do love Arkansas though! You live in a very cool state AG!
I DID live in Arkansas for a while, but I'm a California girl transplanted into the Smoky's, with no real claim to AR other than some college, and a few assorted friends and family members.
But I do have a few grey hairs and walk kinda slow when my joints hurt.

They made fun of my post asking for advice on what was wrong with my 2006 Taurus. Some of the attacks were nuts. One of their posters, however, knew exactly what the issue was. They are an odd mix of folks. Some are hateful; some seem OK; and some are ex-DUers.
My advice is post wishes for a joyous Christmas on their site during the holidays.

Aerows, on edit, didn't intend to disregard your comments. Just wanted to encourage members to ignore it all and not play the game.

(20,234 posts)Maybe because thinking back, a few of my more recent cooking posts have been hilariously stereotypical hippie stuff - lentil chips on the dehydrator, grapes dried on my dashboard. Really it is pretty funny, the moreso because I'm not someone who comes across like that in real life at all.
I see they have their own survivalist forum there with some recipes and off the grid stuff, they even have their own dehydrator thread. We're probably not so far away from each other as we all like to think, in some ways.
Lucinda
(31,170 posts)It's especially true in my case. I can be very "conservative" on some issues, and extremely "liberal" on others. I can find common ground with just about anyone, unless they just constantly mean spirited.
And I am way more hippie-esque than I probably come across. So you and I balance each other out Hippy-wise!

Some CC poster thinks baccala is a modern Italian-American invention--that it's not a dish from Italy itself. Oh shit, I cannot believe the stupid. No seriously....I cannot believe the level of stupid on that thread.
Did no one teach these people history? Salt cod has been a trade item for a thousand years....it was a staple on sailing vessels. The Vikings, the Basques, the Hanseatic League, and the British--all salt cod traders. Italians have been eating salt cod for a millennium.
Five seconds on google....

Okay. When I stop laughing at that, maybe I'll write a post about a hick who doesn't know the difference between architecture and food. Which isn't surprising, since it sounds like shit-on-a-shingle is a delicacy for that one.

A lot of childish person-specific name-calling... using what they apparently consider to be "wit",
but was unsurprisingly just heavy-handed "knee-slapping, har-de-har" humor.
.
.
Pretty much like "So-and-so's a Poopyhead!!!" Which caused a lot of "Poopyhead" echoes.
.
Or "Doodyhead" ("yeah, Doodyhead" and "not just Doodyhead -- but DOODYHEAD-Doodyhead" .
.
.
That's FUNNY -- the equating of "Cave" with "basement", because that's EXACTLY the impression
they made upon me.
.
.
Boring. Not worth any more of my time. Now, if they actually get creative... or truly "witty", let
me know.
.
But I'm not holding my breath.
