Testing - Need Your Opinions Please

I'm going to post several threads and pin them as part of an experiment to see how multiple posted threads appear.

We are trying to determine how many pinned threads we want in order to determine how to define the pinned recipe threads.

We recognize that people are likely viewing this group using a wide variety of devices and formats. We need your opinion and input regarding what might work best for you. Please post those opinions here in this thread.

I'll start with 3 pinned threads (the two threads by Lucinda that are already pinned plus this thread). Tomorrow I will add three other pinned test threads. I'll leave them pinned for about a day and then I will delete one of the pinned test threads (leaving 6 pinned threads). About a day later I will delete a second pinned test thread (leaving 5 pinned threads). About a day later I will delete a third pinned test thread (leaving 4 pinned threads).

Thanks!

I'll keep an eye on it, but I'm on a 17" laptop so it is one of the larger viewing devices. Even still, excessive pinned threads are still a detraction. Perhaps what we really need is a sub-group for recipes.

3. The problem with nesting threads is like graywolfs thread that never dies

LONG load time and hard to find anything. We can hide pinned threads, so people can hide them until they want to browse.

And yes, they do take a long time to load.

I was just thinking. Perhaps the recipe threads could be tied to a month (1201 for now) and released from the pin after the month transition.

6. I think hidden threads become automatically visible again in 90 days

So they would need to be re-hidden at that point. The overall number of pinned threads wont matter to me sine I will just hide any that I don't want visible all the time.

I think the idea of posting them by month might make it hard to find a recipe again..? As opposed to using a category system...Just my take on it though.

We have a lot more options to organize the categories in easy to browse groupings now that we know that we can hide pinned threads. I also think it is worth it to take a little time and find a system the majority agrees on. That would be much easier than trying to redo it down the roads after people make all the effort to add recipes.

2. I checked and We CAN hide pinned threads...so we don't have to limit ourselves

People can leave them open, or hide them if they choose to and unhide to browse

section like we did in DU2. We could cache recipes and other findings there instead of in the main group.
