or even some commercial kefir with active cultures.
Kefir gives the same benefits as yogurt but isn't as puckery so you don't need to use as much sugar in it. I used to do strawberry smoothies with it with frozen strawberries I'd picked the summer before at a You-Pick-'Em farm. I had put very little sugar syrup with them when I'd frozen them, so the resulting drink was very strawberry but not icky sweet.
