what's for dinner? - tuesday, nov. 26

i'm thinking poor old man's potato soup, it's easy and tasty. just potatoes, onions, celery and carrots in chicken stock.

i've really been bad about feeding myself for a bit and need to get back into better habits. it's not even the holidays and i've put on enough weight in the last month or so that i only have one pair of pants that fit.

I'm trying to keep any leftovers out of the fridge because of Thanksgiving so I am making minimal meals that can get eaten up. Today has been cold and rainy so a soup would be good but I can never make a small batch.

soup to be precise. But keep in mind the soup (Vietnamese Chicken Pineapple soup) is extra yummy (like most soups) on the second day.

4. Sounds good. Sometimes I really like a meal like that. Boiled or baked potato w/ toppings is a go to

Where you buy the Brussel sprouts fresh on the stalk.

14. Yeah. I live in strawberry, broccoli, Brussel sprout, greens territory. And increasingly, wine.

Plus beef, which still is a viable business here. Local small ranchers are going "local", marketing to local markets independently.

These sprouts were really good, almost creamy after steaming. I like the winter crop as well. After a sharp chill they get more pungent. Telltale marker - the outer sheath turns purplish.

with homemade dressing. In the salad will be celery, carrots, peppers, snap peas, and scallion. Maybe sun dried tomato and little bits of fried goat cheese. u

Edited to add I bought the most incredibly fresh head of red lettuce tonight!

Sandwiches tonight because I have delicious pork for bbq pork and spinach-feta cheese-chicken sausages for another type. Grilled, of course, and on potato rolls or onion rolls.

I'm thinking a few dates stuffed with blue cheese for an appetizer. A little red.

Things are looking good here--finished my last class and now it's TG holiday, yay!

I am laughing at "poor old man's potato soup." What a picturesque name!

For all of us. Maddie had home made hash browns and raw veggies. T-man had his normal side of steak fries and fruit...only way to get him to eat a veggie is to juice it. . I am having mine on a polenta and wilted spinach.
