(35,731 posts)I made this incredible dipping sauce in my new glass double (actually triple) boiler. This is the best sauce I've ever made.
Here's the recipe. I doubled it and followed the last paragraph, dipping sauce variation.
Peking Sauce Yields¼ cup
2 tablespoons water
1½ tablespoons hoisin sauce
1 tablespoon Asian sesame oil
¼ teaspoon chile paste with garlic, or to taste
1 teaspoon minced garlic
½ green onion, finely chopped
½ teaspoon cornstarch dissolved in 1 teaspoon water (optional)
Peking sauce is another name for hoisin sauce. In this recipe, the hoisin sauce is combined with chile paste, garlic, green onion, and Asian sesame oil for extra flavor.
Combine the water, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, chile paste, minced garlic, and chopped green onion in a bowl. If using in a stir-fry recipe, store in a sealed container in the refrigerator until ready to use. (Use the sauce within 3 to 4 days.) If desired, thicken the sauce by adding the cornstarch and water: After the Peking Sauce has been added to the stir-fry, bring the sauce to a boil and then add the cornstarch and water mixture, stirring quickly to thicken.
Peking Dipping Sauce If using Peking Sauce as a dipping sauce, heat the water, hoi-sin sauce, sesame oil, chile paste, garlic, and green onion in a small saucepan. Add the cornstarch and water mixture, stirring quickly to thicken. Use immediately or store in a sealed container in the refrigerator until ready to use. (Use the sauce within 3 to 4 days.)

(146,218 posts)I've never had a juicer, but I sure like fresh juices. Might have to get one.
Do they take a lot of power?

(6,057 posts)The only drawback is it has to be cleaned immediately after use.

(9,839 posts)Potatoes, cauliflower, turnips, leeks, onions, celery, garlic. Cooked in a turkey broth, then blended with hand blender, added some cream. Thick, rich, delicious. Garlic bread (not bread with garlic powder sprinkled on it, but real bread with whole cloves baked into it--thank god for LaBrea Bread) and fruit.

(146,218 posts)I don't know what all is on it, as some of the words on the menu I don't know.
But it was excellent. Who would have guessed.
And some salad to balance it out.
Hope your doctor's visit went well.

(135,060 posts)Under the weather taking Tamiflu and wouldn't even care to eat but need to take meds with food. Bought the kids one of those rotisserie chickens with some red skin oven roasted potatoes.

(146,218 posts)Make some broth with the bones and scraps from that rotisserie chicken. I believe in that as a cure, though it's probably mostly placebo.
Going to send you an email about an upcoming trip you might be interested in.

(135,060 posts)Will probably do so in the am if I feel up to it. If not do you think I could freeze the carcass to make it later? HEB makes a good chicken soup but it is a bit salty and that is coming from someone who loves salt.

I sure hope you feel better soon. I went through this during my drive down baja. Miserable cold.\
