Both Karo and HFCS are made from corn starch using enzymatic processes, but they are not the same thing. The primary sweetener in Karo is glucose. HFCS uses a different enzymatic process to produce more fructose which makes the syrup sweeter.

sweetener. It does not allow the brain to tell the body to feel sated after having a sweet treat, like dessert. Instead, it might even tell the body to want more. There was research on this 2-3 years ago, but it got buried. The calories may be the same, but the effect on the body is not.

Karo does not say there is HFCS because it doesn't contain any. That's probably why it is pricier than the other corn syrups on the market, which states on the label that it contains HFCS. I will only purchase Karo syrup because it doesn't contain HFCS.

My hubby bought me some Betty Crocker Corn Syrup. It contains HFCS I used it for one recipe of divinity and had to not use it again because it made my legs break out in a rash, they became swollen and they hurt.
