I like caldo de pata (cow's feet/leg soup).

It's 9:40 am here in SoCal, and I'm making chicken soup for brunch, before the midday heat comes. Why? I just like soup!

Just a different kind. I made turkey soup last night and I made the most delicious mistake. I shall repeat this "mistake" again because it resulted in the most delicious looking broth with a deep, rich flavor.

What I did was brown my leeks in butter. I left it on just a tiny bit too long and there were a few chopped leaks stuck to the pan. I was worried I burned them. Who wants burnt tasting soup?

But I hadn't, so I continued with the soup and it turned out to be so delicious. One of the best soups I have ever made.

I am browsing for soup recipes now. Might be back later to post what tonight's creation will be. It is drizzling here, soon to be turned into quite a downpour as the evening goes on: perfect soup weather.

Cher

I've decided to make a soup recipe from The Soupbox Cookbook. It's called Bacon, Tomato, and Cheddar Chowder.

potato-leek soup leftovers. It doesn't even have any cream or milk. Just a dollop of sour cream and that heavenly blend of leeks, potatoes, celery, cooked in chicken broth and blended with the immersion blender.

My husband isn't a fan of leftovers. I can (and did in my single days) make a pot of Chili on Sunday and enjoy it every day until it's gone. Good food is worth eating again...and again...and again

It's still good even days later. It's just that I sound like a broken record.

A standard for me. Simple and tasty. Not sure about sides, but this is the start.
