?
Hello you lovely people.
What's for dinner where you are tonight?
fizzgig
(24,146 posts)the bread turned out amazingly and four of us (we had dinner with my dad and sister) wiped out the whole loaf and the whole pot of stew. the bread need a bit longer to cool and the stew a bit longer to thicken, but they were circling like vultures and i think i'm the only one who noticed.
my husband asked if i plan on making bread a regular thing and is already dreaming of a marble rye.

(146,218 posts)I am going to make pan roasted chicken thighs and try to make my first kugels.
Not sure how they will come out, but the recipe I found sounds delicious.
I've got some really nice, very skinny asparagus, as well.
What are you having?
Lucinda
(31,170 posts)I'm curious to see what you think of them!
Bill is working tonight, so I'll be on my own, and I'm sooo sleepy that nothing sounds good.

(31,170 posts)I made ham and cheese filled crescent pastry for lunch and wasn't hungry again, until I read about your mac and cheese!

(31,170 posts)I still haven't found the perfect option for us for baked fish. We both like crispy, but I don't like a really hard coating.

(106,886 posts)@ 425. Turn once. Breading just toasts a bit. Comes out crumbly, not hard, and the fish is done fork tender. Random breading and pan juices get tossed over the rice...

(31,170 posts)It's a big deal for us to find a good piece of fish here in the mountains, so I always get a little weird about being disappointed in the results. We were doing baked foil pouch fish for a while and I loved those, but Bill is a crunchy crust sort of guy.
pinto
(106,886 posts)I love baked foil pouch for fish. Steams it well and the spices really get into the piece. With this one, I gave it a good dose of olive oil - the spray version - over the breading before baking. Came out toasty but not really a crust finish. Maybe an egg dip before the bread crumbs, then the oil, would give a more thicker crust.

(31,170 posts)I wish I had one ready. I've been playing with stuffed crescent dough and puff pastries, and had stopped baking regular bread lately. I big hunk with some butter sounds sooo good!

(12,253 posts)Going out tonight!
Lucinda
(31,170 posts)Bill has the next three days off and we are going out at least once. I haven't been out to eat in forever!

(12,253 posts)volcano roll, spicy rock shrimp appetizer, Hawaiian tuna poki. We appreciated our considerate servers, our favorite chef was on duty then we topped it off with a Frangelico and walked a quarter mile back to our apartment through the park. Crisp air, small flurries presaging the storm we are expecting and now listening to the sound track of "Book of Mormon" the funniest (and most irreverent) musical ever. That is a great Thursday. Enjoy your time at the sushi bar!

(21,675 posts)i'm having a bowl of pasta slim noodles (shiritaki), which i've mixed with some sauteed crimini mushrooms, olive oil, parmesan, and seasonings, as well as a small romaine salad with homemade croutons. yummy!
Lucinda
(31,170 posts)I think i'm going to do something light and veggie tonight too!
But last night was better.
On the day the internet protested SOPA, I made Sopas for dinner.

I was also in a mood for a chili cheese dog. I had a big batch of frozen chili, but couldn't wait for it to thaw.
I also had a can of Campbell's Chili in the cupboard and heated that with a hot dog served up with cheese in a pita bread pocket.
Corn would have been good, but I was eating very late alone tonight and it was too much trouble
Tomorrow it's all from Omaha Steaks, thawing in the fridge. BBQ ribs, Corn w/peppers and risotto cheesy balls. http://www.omahasteaks.com/servlet/OnlineShopping?dsp=38&q=bbq+corn&PHRASE=bbq+corn

(51,907 posts)Dough recipe from KitchenAid, thawed frozen tomato paste, thawed package of summer sausage that I sliced up 6 months ago and stored in freezer packs, oregano, basil, garlic and onion powder, olives, one thinly sliced green pepper, mushrooms, sliced onions topped with the last third of a 2 lb mozarella block I had around.
Yummy, but by the 4th day I expect to be bored.
