What's for Dinner, Mon., Sept. 8, 2014

My cooking endeavor for the night is from a recipe called "Five-Spice Pork Soup." It has chicken broth base, soy, and fish sauce in it. In addition, a jalapeno and, of course, five-spice. Onion and broccoli slaw are a few of the other ingredients.

OK, more like I'm cleaning out the fridge and starting anew. Leftover steak, cuke/tomato/sweet onion salad, leftover broccoli, and if I feel ambitious, seasoned oven-baked potato wedges.

It was snowing today. Nothing stuck to the ground, but wtf and ick and brrrr. So, it was a soup day (actually it was cold yesterday too, so it was a soup day then too - I made herbed carrot soup with garden carrots - yum!)

Had a caprese with burrata and sandwich fixings with cold chicken, cheese and fresh bread. The rest of the melon rounded things out.

Yum!

I've never tasted it. My newspaper had a recipe recently for grilling cherry toms ON THE VINE and making a bruschetta with burrata and basil.

What a delicious dish! My go-to comfort food from now on instead of baked potato. Thanks, grasswire for posting this recipe.

Stew beef, beef broth, carrots, potatoes, green beans.

If it were up to me, I'd add mushrooms, onions, and garlic, but the housemate doesn't care for those.

I should have had the sense to cook up a pan of carmelized onions and keep them in the fridge to add whenever I cooked a dish that needed such. Raisins can sometimes be added separately, but in things like quick breads, muffins, I found myself making a recipe that would have been perfect with them, and omitting them to keep harmony in the family.
