I can't believe it--I had such a craving for a medley of broccoli and carrots or broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots. And look at the two posts above this one!

I'm making stuffed peppers tonight. The peppers will be stuffed with ground beef, corn, onion, garlic, jalopeno or chipotle. Topped with lots of cheese.

If I can figure out how to make onion rings in the oven, I might do them as a side dish.

Yeah, me too. I'm done with the deep-fried crap. I guess that's what happens when you approach a certain age.

Anyway... I so love onion rings, and want to bake them - not deep fry them.

I've tried this, and it is good... but as usual... I like to tweak somebody's else's recipe. (Maybe a little extra granulated garlic, maybe some extra cracked pepper...)

Not bad for baked. But, since I don't use buttermilk that often, I need to plan to have oven-"fried" chicken as well, maybe the next day? I mean, what the hell am I gonna do with a quart of buttermilk?

I hate wasting food.

Just my 2 cents,
-g

Oh, those look good. But lots of prep time involved, so I'm glad I saw this early. This is a home office day for me, so totally do-able.

I laughed at what the writer said about onion rings being a vehicle for ketchup!
They are a terrific combination, for sure.

And now, a link for you for orange glazed Brussels sprouts.

I sorta' had this the other night...but I didn't. In other words, I started it, as I so often do, and then the RG swept into the kitchen and took over. So he turned it into his recipe and did it the way he wanted. It was delicious!

Heard anything on your job interview? I had one the same day as you and I heard back yesterday--I got the job! This is an addition to my regular f-t job, and it will be fun. The people seem nice and I look forward to working with them.

for the Brussels sprouts. Got it! Orange and ginger go so well together. This recipe is a keeper for me. Thanks! Funny, but I had a similar sauce like this one for baby back ribs (orange-ginger-soy-garlic, etc) but never thought to glaze the sprouts.

Re: interview. Probably the most ambiguous interview I ever had. It wasn't for any specific job posting. I asked a friend of mine at NASA-JPL to pass my resume-CV up the chain, because I was looking for a new gig. So I got a call for an interview. As with JPL, one gets interviewed by 4 or 5 people. It's a 1/2 day process. Anyway, I think it went well. Maybe I'll get a call back, maybe not. So I'm putting it out of my mind and moving forward. (I used to work for them 10 yrs ago, and two of the 5 people interviewing I used to work with, so that is a plus.) We shall see.

Congrats on your new gig! I always find it cool to break out of the same-ol'-same-ol' and do something different or new.
