I love this. Have you seen this on pinterest (or elsewhere)?
It's a simple wooden soda crate used as a spice rack: perfect for situations like mine where kitchen space is very, very limited (and prized).
I'm definitely adding this as a project on my to-do list. I think they're adorable, cost effective and smart.
Question: where do you all buy your spices online? I like Silk Road Spice Merchants, they're located in Canada but they're a bit pricey. Also, Penzey's spices would be an awesome score for me, but they do not ship to Canada.
So, I'm looking for decent alternatives.

(426 posts)mountainroseherbs.com Their stuff is all organic, reasonably priced, and they deliver to Canada. I've used them for years, and highly recommend. Excellent selection and fresh products.

(426 posts)....and they have the best green teas. Good variety and flavors. Shipping is also pretty quick. They're located in Oregon, I'm in California and usually get my order within less than a week. Maybe quicker to Canada??

My jars are urine sample containers I snagged out of catheter kits when i didn't need the sample. People occasionally go a little green when they realize what they are but o bla di.

(3,547 posts)I've only found a partial solution, which was a rustic (and narrow) wire and bamboo basket just the right size to hold SOME of my spices on the countertop. (I've got a lot of spices.)
lol about the urine sample containers!

Bookmarked.

(8,976 posts)The combined shipping sealed the deal for me. I used to have a small food business and placed one order each spring for 2-3 hundred dollars and back then it was $4.99 for combined shipping-and I received 4 or 5 cases of spice. I highly recommend their spice blends, particularly the "no salt" which are a great bargain.

(602 posts)Light and heat degrade spices and oils. So if you can find opaque or at least tinted jars -- or just paint regular jars with glass paint -- that would be better for the shelf life.
